Eddie Casanave

Eddie’s extensive home remodeling and construction experience dates back to 1987 when he opened Outdoor Creations. Since then, he’s been a member of some of the most prestigious boards and associations in the industry, and is founder and past Chairman of the Remodelers Council and Past President of the local HBA. Eddie strives to provide the highest level of service to his clients and has been recognized with various awards for his outstanding work and craftsmanship, including local and regional Remodelers Council’s Remodeler of the Year awards, and over 70 STAR awards for remodeling excellence.

When he’s not turning a client’s dream into a reality, Eddie enjoys cooking, traveling, fishing and boating.

Josh Mauney, Business Development

Josh Mauney, Business Development

Josh manages Business Development for Distinctive Remodeling, LLC. With a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from East Carolina University, Josh is an unlimited licensed general contractor and is designated as a Certified Graduate Builder (CGB), a Graduate Master Builder (GMB), a Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR), and an Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) through the National Association of Home Builders.

Having worked on over 500 construction projects, Josh has established a proven record of excellence in preconstruction, custom home construction, remodeling, and construction safety. In 2018 Josh was the National NAHB Young Professional of the Year.

Bob Hillesland, Project Manager

Having worked in the remodeling industry for more than 25 years, Bob plays a key role in assisting our clientele with projects ranging from small to large scale and working to reach their remodeling goals. Bob has been part of the Distinctive Remodeling team for nearly two years and enjoys traveling and exploring with his family as well as hunting.

Michael Plower, Project Manager

Michael Plower, Project Manager

Michael’s 34 years in the industry began at the age of 16, when he began as a carpenter’s apprentice. Now, having worked on the Distinctive Remodeling team for almost 18 years, Michael spends his days managing and coordinating client projects and ensuring that all tasks stay on track.

When he’s not fixing or building something, Michael enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, and skeet/target shooting. His all-time favorite movies include Boondock Saints, Star Wars, Matrix, Blade and Ace Ventura Pet Detective.

Aaron Oaks, Production Manager

Aaron plays a key role in managing our labor force and ensuring that all of our clients’ expectations are exceeded. Aaron has worked in the remodeling industry for 22 years and has been with the Distinctive Remodeling team for five.

When he’s not managing our projects, Aaron enjoys remodeling his 1927 farmhouse and serving in his local church’s children’s ministry as a large group storyteller.

Matt Faro, Project Manager

Matt is originally from New Hampshire, and studied architecture at Norwich University in Vermont. After college, he went to work for a small design/build firm building houses. After 5 years, he joined Crown Point Cabinetry, designing kitchens and miscellaneous cabinetry applications for an additional 5 years. Matt has resided in NC for 4 years, and has been working in our cabinet shop gaining valuable experience in the finer points of custom cabinet construction for almost 3 of those years.

When the opportunity arose, we felt it would be a great fit for Matt to take his skill out into the field as a project manager. For fun, Matt likes to do mud runs and obstacle course races, along with traveling with his wife to visit family.

Mark Duerst, Estimator

Mark comes to us from sunny San Diego, where he ran his own business for 27 years. Mark was an Industry Expert for the California Contractors State License Board. He has worked as an Independent Insurance Claims Adjuster since he has been in NC. His roles for Distinctive Remodeling include coordinating pre-construction meetings with suppliers and subcontractors to get the best pricing available, collecting pricing and specifications, and compiling estimates for our projects.

Mark has a BS from San Diego State University, and a MBA from National University. He volunteers at the New Hope Valley Railway and enjoys spending time with his wife, dogs, and friends.

Leslie Cohen, Senior Designer

Leslie Cohen, CKD, CID, AID, ASID, is a nationally acclaimed designer, winner of 41 design awards, and has been featured in more than 80 publications. Leslie is a National Kitchen and Bath Association Certified Kitchen Designer, California State Certified Interior Designer, North Carolina Alliance of Interior Designers member, and professional level member of the American Society of Interior Designers.

Leslie enjoys spending time with her husband, her dog, and her friends; playing guitar; going to concerts, theaters, galleries, and gardens; traveling and meeting new people; yoga, walking, golfing, biking, and racing cars.

Michelle Bonds, Designer

Michelle is the lead CAD designer in our office, helping Eddie and Leslie doing some of the more complicated computer designs. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and an Associate’s degree in Interior Design. For 10 years, she owned her own business creating artwork from recycled materials. Through this endeavor she honed her organizational, technical, and creative skills and she brings those talents to our team. Michelle is a member of the Alliance of Interior Designers and an ASID Allied Member.

She enjoys the technical aspects of design, including drafting and space planning, and enjoys the diversity of the projects she works on. In her spare time, Michelle enjoys running, hiking with her dog, spending time with her family and traveling to new places.
