This kitchen renovation transformed a dated space into a bright, modern centerpiece of the home. The project began with removing the wall between the kitchen and family room, which necessitated relocating the refrigerator and freezer columns and adjusting a portion of the countertops. To refresh the cabinetry, we replaced the upper inset doors with a sleek, modern design, while retaining the original base cabinets. The perimeter cabinets were painted a crisp white, contrasted by a new bold navy-blue island that serves multiple functions, including housing a relocated beverage refrigerator and providing ample table seating for family gatherings. The original Spanish-style tile was replaced with white, textured subway tiles arranged in a herringbone pattern above the range, adding a touch of visual interest. New light fixtures over the island and updated hardware throughout contribute to the kitchen’s refreshed look. The open living room fireplace was also updated with a new stone surrounding that harmonizes with the kitchen’s style. The result is a jaw-dropping, light-filled kitchen that seamlessly blends modern elements with existing features, creating a space that’s both functional and full of character.
