This kitchen remodel in Cary, NC successfully transformed a fragmented layout into a sophisticated and highly functional culinary hub by prioritizing streamlined storage and a grander sense of scale. By removing the original walk-in pantry, the design opened up space for a significantly larger island that now serves as the room’s focal point, complete with integrated seating, pendant lighting, toe-kick lighting, and storage on all sides.
The loss of the pantry was offset by the installation of full-height pantry cabinets and a dedicated coffee bar tucked beneath the stairs, while the butler’s pantry was reimagined with floor-to-ceiling storage. To enhance the flow into the living area, a stylish new wet bar was integrated into the existing arched cutout, featuring rich wood tones, X-shaped bases, and glass-front cabinets.
Efficiency is at the heart of the design, with nearly every cabinet equipped with tailored organization accessories such as tray dividers, pegboard systems, and utensil inserts. This meticulous attention to detail is punctuated by a plate rack at the entrance to the room, offering a warm, decorative welcome that perfectly blends practical utility with the home’s refined aesthetic.
